Painful, but I could get back to writing the code that pays the bills." and my favorite: "Looked like a rogue unit test was hosing up the build. Time to take it out back and shoot it." I'm a little surprised you didn't mention a dame in a trenchcoat walking into your dusty office, illuminated by the slats of light through the Venetian blinds.
